What Do You Want To Achieve?

What do you want to achieve?

Guess what, it won’t cost you anything to dream. It’s FREE! Now that you know that it’s FREE, answer the question…

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE?

In answering this question, you can use your wildest imaginations. List them down on a piece of paper or in your smartphone. Then, classify them into two columns. See if they are SMART or not. SMART is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-Bound.

Now let’s dissect this term a little further.

Specific

You don’t go to McDonald’s and order food. What you do is you choose a specific food to order like Cheeseburger, Big Mag, Coke Float, or whatever you want.  Be very specific on what you want.

Measurable

You cannot simply wish for money. If you want a million dollars, list it down. If you want just a dollar, list it down.  It doesn’t really matter what you want.  Whatever amount it is that you want, we will achieve it together.  So might as well dream big!

Achievable

If you want to bring the dead back to life, think!  Is it achievable with our current technology?  We’re simply not there yet. But, who knows?  Kings and Queens of the olden days would kill to have sons so that there would be heirs to their thrones.  Kingdoms fell because of the lack of eligible heirs.  Nowadays, you can choose if you want a boy or a girl.  You can even choose to have twins wherein one is a boy and the other one is a girl.  So, before you list it down, think if it is achievable within your time-frame.

Realistic

This is very relative.  For me, anything is possible and we are limited only by our own imaginations.  So, how will you know if your goals are realistic?  My answer is if you can conceive it in your mind, then it’s realistic no matter what other people would say about it.  Don’t let anyone comment on the validity of your dreams.

Time-Bound

Here, you must place a specific time-frame for your goals. You cannot simply wish to have a car. Be rest assured that you will have it, but when? 100 years from now? 10 years from now? 1 year from now? …or NOW? Whatever it is, you must be very specific because your plans on achieving it would highly depend on your time-frame.

With the SMART system, you will be able to clearly set your goals and we can go to the next topic wherein you will have to get real and determine where you currently stand.  This is very important because you simply cannot go from point A to point B if you don’t even know where point A is.
